PARKING at and around Sheptytsky Institute

There are a limited number of resident parking spots available at Sheptytsky Institute. If you have requested parking on your residency application you will be notified if one is available for you, or not.

It is very important for you to know that if you have not been allocated a parking spot at Sheps, and if you have not discussed the possibility of temporary parking with Sheptytsky Institute Residence Office - your vehicle (or your parent's, or your friend's) will be ticketed (Bylaw #7200). These $50 City of Saskatoon parking violations are subject to additional penalty every two hours - with no qualifying discount.

A vacant spot in our parking lot, whether behind the garage, or at any numbered or "RESERVED" one, does not indicate that it is available for your use without a permit. In addition, parking in and around the University campus is always a challenge, and the Varsity View residential area is restricted to one or two hours for non-permit holders. All areas are regularly patrolled. If you park your vehicle in any University, Varsity View or Sheptytsky Institute parking lot it is your responsibility to ensure that you read all posted signage and are aware of any and all restrictions. Legal parking is your responsibility at all times of day or night. If at all possible, leave your vehicle at home!

Vehicles, and contents of vehicles, which are at and around Sheptytsky Institute are left at your own risk.

Please note that University and City of Saskatoon policy and procedure may have changed since posting of the following information. It is recommended to contact the respective departments for the most current conditions for application.

•    University students living in residence are given the opportunity to pre-register for residence parking at the Stadium Parkade or Lot U at McEown Park. Please contact the parking office for details and current rates.

Pre-registration for one of these designated University lots must be done through the Sheptytsky Institute residence Manager by following the procedure which is announced in the early August pre-move-in e-mail. Following this pre-registration, it is your responsibility to get to the University parking office on the designated day/days. At that time you will also be required to present the registration for your vehicle. The vehicle must be registered in either your name or that of your parents. Registration checks are done, and no substitutions are permitted. Following the designated registration day, any other spots will be rented out for shorter periods (ie: Monthly) based on availability.

All other University of Saskatchewan parking spots are designated through the on-line PAWS registration format.

•    Some residents apply with the City of Saskatoon to obtain a Varsity View resident parking permit. The cost for this permit is approximately $25. You will be assigned a specific zone within the surrounding area where you will be permitted to park. http://www.city.saskatoon.sk.ca/org/municipal_engineering/parking_services/park_permit/index.asp#

To apply for this permit, you must present proof that you reside at Sheptytsky Institute. For this, you must request a letter from the Sheptytsky Institute residence Manager which will confirm that you are a resident. They may also require that you update the address shown on your driver's licence.

Permits can be purchased or renewed at City Hall customer service, 222 Third Avenue North from 8:09 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. Cash and debit cards accepted.

You must follow the City of Saskatoon guidelines in regard to this parking permit. Please note that being in possession of this Varsity View permit does not allow you to park in Sheptytsky Institute parking lot.
