Summer Accommodation.....

During the months of May to August Sheptytsky Institute is available for individuals in summer studies, interested groups, and individuals just travelling through.

Some things you should know:

The Residence:

·         Sheps is a dorm style double, triple and quad occupancy residence with male/female separation. Shared washroom facilities on each floor. Showers, bathtubs and toilets are enclosed individually in each washroom. Single rooms are by special arrangement only. Rooms are furnished with a single bed, desk, chair, bookshelf, closet, mirror.

·         Please be aware that Sheps is smoke, alcohol and illegal substance free. Violators will be fined; eviction may result.

·         Check out time is by 11:00 a.m. unless alternate arrangements have been made, approved and confirmed.

·         Located on the lower level: 24-hr coin-op laundry; computer, tv, recreation, meeting & dining (containing fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave) rooms. Located on the 2^nd level: a pay phone cubicle; St. Andrew the Apostle of Ukraine chapel. Except for laundry and pay phone, all are limited access May – August and may not be available to all renters.

·         Swimming pool and other recreational facilities are just a few minutes away on the University of Saskatchewan Campus. Direct bus route is also close by. Downtown is just across the bridge.

Making arrangements:

·         Organization must provide a contact representative and phone number, male/female breakdown, the number of chaperones, meal service and parking requests, and any other special arrangements.

·         Special arrangements for food services for larger groups are available from May to August. Meals are provided at the pre-arranged time, for a limited period. Any changes in meal time must be discussed with the cook, or Sheptytsky Institute representative, in advance. Guests who miss the pre-arranged meal time will not be served at an alternate time. There are no refunds for missed meals.

·         Parking must be pre-arranged to ensure availability and to avoid parking violations. License number must be provided to Sheptytsky Institute management or representative. Due to limited parking area, parking can only be reserved for chaperones/coaches and can not be guaranteed for youth participants. Temporary parking permit must be displayed on vehicle dashboard. Additional parking is available at the UofS Stadium Parkade. Parking is not allowed on Wiggins Avenue or College Drive at any time. Buses should pull up on the Wiggins Avenue city sidewalk for drop off/pick-up.

During your stay:

·         Each set of keys includes main door (locked 24 hours) and room key. Charge exists for non-returned keys.

·         Only registered guests are allowed overnight. Other visitors will be considered as trespassers. Subletting is not allowed.

·         Daily room cleaning service and/or linen service is not supplied. Where bedding is supplied this includes: sheets, blankets, pillow, pillow case. Arrangements can be made to provide clean linens at a nominal fee. There will be a charge for non-returned linens.

·         When kitchen services are available, individuals are welcome at the special visitor rates as posted. Cooking in dorm rooms is not allowed.

·         Pets are not allowed.

·         Chaperones should ensure that windows, doors and fire doors are closed and locked at the end of the day, and that washrooms and common areas are free of litter and personal belongings.

·         The Building Manager is available during regular hours. After hours call-back service for occurrences which are not the responsibility of, or caused by, the Institute, will be charged to your organization at the rate of $50.00 per call.

Etc. During your stay & what Chaperones/Supervisors must announce to participants:

·         Respect must be shown to all residents and staff of Sheptytsky Institute and the policies as established by the Metropolitan Sheptytsky Society of Saskatchewan.

·         Sheps is smoke, alcohol and illegal substance free. Violators will be fined; eviction may result.

·         Kindly flush toilets and rinse sinks after personal use. Chaperone should be notified of overflowing toilet.

·         Food service is buffet style. Clothing & footwear must be worn; remove hats. Individuals must clear away their own refuse & place dishware on the trolley, prior to leaving the dining room. Do not removed dishes from the dining room.

·         Bicycles are not allowed in the building. They must be chained-up at the Wiggins Ave entrance or back of the building.

·         Kindly keep off the grass and out of the flowers.

·         Tampering with the fire alarm system, fire fighting equipment or automatic door closures puts residents in danger & violates regulations of the fire marshal. $200 residence fine exists along with disciplinary action. Additional fine may be levied by Fire Protection Services.

·         Hallways must be kept clear of hazardous and restrictive material, and are not to be used for sporting activities.

·         Furnishings must not be moved from room to room or from public areas without prior approval of Sheps staff.

·         Window screens must be kept down and must not be removed. Throwing articles or climbing from windows, scaling walls, accessing the roof, or dangling from any, is prohibited. Eviction will follow.

When you leave:

·         Don’t forget to leave all keys.

·         Renting organizations will be invoiced. Net 30 days. Cheques should be made payable to “Sheptytsky Institute”; and, forwarded to the residence office. We do not accept charge or debit cards for payment.
